How to Care for Pima Cotton Baby Clothes (So They Last)
One of the most remarkable qualities of Peruvian Pima cotton is that it improves with washing rather than degrading. Where lower-quality fabrics pill, fade, and lose shape within weeks, Pima cotton becomes progressively softer over time — provided it is cared for correctly.
Here is exactly how to wash, dry, and store your Nolhill pieces so they last well beyond the newborn months.
Washing
Wash Pima cotton garments in cold water on a gentle cycle. Cold water protects the long fibers that give Pima cotton its signature softness and prevents the shrinkage that warm or hot water can cause.
Use a mild, fragrance-free detergent. Newborn skin is sensitive, and harsh detergents can leave residue that causes irritation even on naturally hypoallergenic fabric. Avoid fabric softener — it coats the fibers with a synthetic film that actually reduces the natural softness of Pima cotton over time.
Always wash similar colors together, and turn embroidered pieces inside out to protect the stitching.
Drying
Lay garments flat to dry whenever possible. This is the single most effective way to preserve shape and prevent stretching, particularly for ribbed or structured pieces like our Enzo and Freya layette sets.

Storing
